High School Teacher
There, in your halls, in the classes you
lead each day
while trying to find...express
that which time has given you,
is a collection of individuals you
have discovered, been lent,
have helped create, and
will send out --
out into a world you know they
think they know.
But you, because of that which time
has grown in you, wisdom,
know that that which they think they
know, is but a part of a changing constancy
called life.
You give them the experience of learning to
relate to someone who does not hold
their inexperience against them.
For you’ve come to see, in all those young faces,
a reflection, your mirror, of all
the experience you could safely share
with them.
