Original Poetry from Adan Lerma
A Gift for RememberingTM
Artist's Comment: like the related poem noted below, "austin," the changes in houston either haven't changed the meaning in the poem, or just plain re-inforced it
unlike the austin poem, i did clean up some ambiguity and flow; think of it as cleaning up the bayous :-)
though i only have one painting related to houston posted as of this writing, i do have a very nice houston skyline painting also in the works

the thought itself" - adan
Houston
Always a huge cow town.
Full of pick-ups driven
like wild horses. Thick ocean
on your face and arms.
The city’s the real space center
with space for every redneck,
northerner, and wanderer
that really wants a job.
Freeways like kids’ clothes --
outgrown and torn the
moment they’re used.
Zoning. Huh?
And skyscrapers visible on
the flat land of the bayou’s prairie
like thick new hair on a
growing baby’s head. Growing.
Always growing.
It’s the big cow town left
wild and free.

Special notes:
The text presented in the photo example below is how we print, a more cursive pretty font that won't reprint well here.
Also, we adjust the font size of the title, copyright, personalization, to fit both the writing itself, and the constraints of the mat opening (window) of the 8x10's we use.
