Artist Commentary
"Rowing Past Walking Bridge"
a typically beautiful day along barton springs; the view, facing north toward lady bird lake and onto downtown austin, is easily accessible from the north side sidewalk of barton springs rd bridge
crossing the busy road to the sidewalk facing south, one can have a view of barton springs toward the bend that leads to barton springs pool (where one can also rent canoes of all sorts)
in this painting, the rower has gone past the walking bridge that connects the east and west banks of the hike and bike trail that laces its way around much of lady bird lake; the east and west banks can also be crossed on the same barton springs rd bridge this view is from, and via the shallow end of barton springs as it begins again from the north end of barton springs pool
i will soon be posting some of the images i've done of the walking bridge mentioned above, very monet-ish if for no other reason than the motif itself, the wonderful curved span of the bridge over water
