"Austin Hike & Bike, Cesar Chavez at Shoal Creek"
my first medium size painting done w/water soluble oils, it was a challenge and fun and showed me i'd be able to make the transition from the consistency of pure oil paints to those that are water soluable
i have traveled through a few brands, actually keeping a color or two from various brands i found i liked, but have since settled on mostly using grumbacher max and holbein for my whites, while retaining winsor newton's flake white for foundation work, especially with buildings
this particular spot on austin's lady bird lake hike & bike trail is on the north side of the colorado river and runs along side cesar chavez street, formerly 1st street
shoal creek empties into lady bird lake here, and there's a nice criss-crossing of the path and the bridge on cesar chavez spanning the creek; austin's emerging skyline is seen beyond (the frost tower is the blue bldg seen, even being joined by other equally visible new bldgs), the trails and hike & bike path being literally in the true center of austin (ie, forget geographic center :-)
many, actually most of my austin paintings are centered somewhere on or near a point on the hike & bike trail
