Original Poetry from Adan Lerma
A Gift for RememberingTM
Artist's Comment: kind of an unusual poem for me, a little longer, a little more meandering, kinda like the sentiment i imagine (and at times remember) when the feeling that one has missed more goals than one had expected or allowed for begins to overwhelm perspective
things accomplished are temporarily forgotten or given less due; things not done loom; the weight of things to do is deep; the list is long fading into a distant blurry horizon
thankfully, most the time, this type of writing is not needed, or wanted :-)
but when it is, it's usually needed pretty badly

Missed Goals
It’s great having goals.
It’s great even wanting goals.
And it’s best, like a sudden breeze
mid summer, when you unexpectedly
meet some goals. But, you can’t meet them all.
Why try inhaling every molecule of oxygen
the world has to offer, every stirring scent
of outdoor roasting, every flower freshly
opened, every baby ready for
holding - there’s too much.
So what if you haven’t
taken a few shocked whiffs
off the top of Mt. Everest, or
skimmed air bursting fresh from
a tropical wave? What about all you
have accomplished? Maybe a chance
arose to finish a project or see an old friend,
maybe call one of the family, and you did it
Ok...still not enough? Then, well,
you’re just missing it again.
Yes, missing another goal. Yes.
Remember which one? The one to love
yourself as well as you do others...the one
that says you’re as much a part of God
and life as the air itself....
Remember?
Take a deep breath. And remember.
You are also the goal.

Special notes:
The text presented in the photo example below is how we print, a more cursive pretty font that won't reprint well here.
Also, we adjust the font size of the title, copyright, personalization, to fit both the writing itself, and the constraints of the mat opening (window) of the 8x10's we use.
