Artist Commentary "Valentines Day Zilker Park" february 14th, 2004, on my wife sheila's birthday, it snowed early that morning before dawn, and, right before dawn, i creaked out of bed, dressed, made sure i had back-up batteries and memory cards, and took my digital camera to see what i'd see around zilker park and barton springs it really was too dark to wander down around the barton springs' banks, so i parked on the far west end of the open fields of zilker where several years later we would enjoy, we heard, one of the rolling stones' best concerts in years but that morning the field was still and void of people, pets, and most plants as light eased down across the field from the tree line skirting the austin skyline, i poked here and there looking for my angle, the shot i knew i wanted when i'd see it finally, as the light began to light the air and send reflections across the snow and bldgs, i saw what i wanted i stayed long enough to feel i had all i would want for a painting i'd very much enjoy doing; it wasn't til sheila and i were in central park in record cold march weather last year ('07) that i'd again see and capture a digital winter snow scene i'd enjoy painting as much adan - january 22, 2008 Click to Zoom In Gallery Piquel 215-862-3523 Picture Facts poetry index - arts reviews - original paintings - main top
