Artist's Comment: i'm not a great swimmer (meaning i don't swim that well actually :-) but i enjoy it; plus i grew up in houston spending much time in galveston playing in the water there
still, as with most things i do (though definitely not all :-) i seem to have a specific experience from what i do, and being in the water has a specialness i've tried to capture and share

Swimming
Sometimes more comfortable
more relaxed in the water
than on the land. Rather
than a danger of sinking
it’s floating that comes
to mind, the ease
of movement - the quiet
of one’s eyes just above
a still water.
The strokes, the technique
come with practice, but
all else is liquid -
all else is the returning,
the merging-submerging
of our 70% bodies of water
into the coolness of condensed
liquid air.

Special notes:
The text presented in the photo example below is how we print, a more cursive pretty font that won't reprint well here.
Also, we adjust the font size of the title, copyright, personalization, to fit both the writing itself, and the constraints of the mat opening (window) of the 8x10's we use.
