"Frost Tower Behind the Buford Tower"
i love viewing and painting certain buildings, almost as much as certain patches of nature :-)
what's often even more enjoyable is including some of nature with the man made structures
that, in this particular painting, i was able to include one of austin's older landmarks, the buford tower, is an extra treat
the frost tower itself, visible from the far edges of town, is unique to the austin skyline, and the catalyst for numerous austin skyline photography, paintings, and memorabilia
seen from the first street bridge, literally standing over lady bird lake, the folliage from the bank of the river can be seen reaching up to "skirt" the image
the totality of play between the modern buildings, the old tower, the folliage peaking from the river, plus the play of reflections, particularly on the frost tower, appealed to me then, and appeals to me now
i get asked a lot, so i'll add that the reddish-toned reflections on the left side of the frost tower are of one american center located at 6th and congress
