"Edge of Central Park NYC"
The second painting from photos from my friend Kelly from work from her and her husband's vacation to New York. These are colors we just don't get often enough in Austin.
The wall of buildings are barely visible in the background, kinda reflecting the way I imagine the couple on the bench senses the day in the Central Park.
Frankly, this is one of my favorites. If I had to say why, it must be the combination of the colors, the park, the city, and of course the couple on the bench enjoying the whole gestalt.
I did purposely choose a longer horizontal cropping to compliment the previous Central Park painting, "Central Park at the Edge", which was tall and thin.
Wanted to comment that the titles of these two paintings aren't simply reversed to each other. I've tried to not only describe the location of the image, but the psychological feeling each gave me.
"Central Park at the Edge" with its tall format fully displaying the height of the buildings just beyond the park seems to signify the place where the park ends and the dynamic city beyond demands your attention. Manhattan beckons.
"Edge of Central Park NYC" alternatively beckons the New Yorker or visitor to stay awhile and enjoy the oasis inside the metropolis.
In Contrast, even during a record cold snap, "Central Park Record Cold March" offers a full participation view of enjoying the park, joggers, paths, bridge, and buildings mistily in the background.
What can one say, New York and Central Park, a world onto themselves. :-)
