Lent to me by a friend from work, the photo of this view was taken by Kelly during a vacation to New York with her husband.
I love the merging of city and nature, one of my most preferred themes.
My first painting of Manhattan, I chose the format not just to emphasize the verticalness of the bldgs rising behind the view of the edge of Central Park, but specifically for placement on an Art Card Announcement for a then upcoming art show at the Javits Center, ArtExpo New York 2007.
Fairly heavy in texture for a small work, it views as an image best with a little distance. Some of my work also views more as the place itself when printed or viewed digitally, and that is the case with "Central Park at the Edge."
The name of this piece is simply a description to me of feeling on the edge of the park, on the edge between city and nature.
