Artist's Comment: brand new work, written as i've waded my way through the days before Christmas, weighted with the thoughts and feelings of knowing someone close to me, wondering how it is we can feel so close to someone it feels we've known them longer than our time together alone would warrant, with a twist and a smile at part of why this might be so :-)

Feels Like I've Known You Forever
We recognized each other
from the start.
Ironic
considering
we often test our words
our glances
as if
we were still young
mysteries smiling
to the light
in each other.
Maybe
we know too well
how numerous the nuances
we possess and put proudly
forward, presented
like blooms of our treasured selves,
are really nuisances, soft
but tiny thornes,
we’ve known
forever
still touch us.
