I'd wrote a bit back about seeing "Before Sunset" with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy and how much I liked it and how it was a continuation of a prior movie they'd done 9 years earlier, "Before Sunrise."
Well, last night got to see the 1st movie. These two have a lot of chemistry together on screen (no idea re off screen) and it was really interesting and fun to see them meeting and getting attached to each other at a younger age that was really real, not just portrayed.
"Before Sunrise" follows a lot of same format as its sequel. The characters talk and talk as they wander the city, this time beautiful Vienna. Their portrayals seem so genuine, maybe more so having seen the 2nd movie first, not sure.
But the two combined should be a double feature. The youthfulness and energy of the earlier movie against the emotional ringer of the 2nd movie of really living another 9 years, linked by the completely convincing yearning these two have for each other through the entire time frame, is really special.
Now I'm ready for another round w/Veronica Mars next wk :-)
Thanks ya'll; I've pasted my first write up below for reference/reminder,

ps - should soon be posting a new image to the website, "Bryant Park, NYC, Spring"
(previous movie post)
hi, ya'll, in keeping w/the arts in general part of my newsletter goal, I'm passing along a quick recommendation on a movie made for us die-hard romantics, "Before Sunset" with Ethan Hawke and Julie Delpy and the city of Paris. They talk their way through the streets of Paris, literally, rehashing an encounter they'd shared nine years earlier (in the actual movie, "Before Sunrise") and why it hadn't gone further from there though they'd both wanted it too. The dialog banter was a little bit expected but satisfying, the Paris scenery was great, and the psychological movements between the two was extremely interesting. When a flashback was shown i couldn't figure out how they'd been made to look "so" much younger :-) I didn't know and didn't realize they were reprising earlier roles from the previous movie. Julie Delpy wrote some of the screenplay and many of the songs in the movie. Now i've got the 1st movie, "Before Sunrise," done 9 yrs earlier on my queue, arriving after my alternating disk affair w/veronica mars, my current favorite tv sleuth, great dialog and quips thanks
ya'll, adan
